AuthorityLabs Review

AuthorityLabs History

AuthorityLabs is web based rank tracker, it’s self confesssed aim is to be simple enough for a small business owner to operate whilst being flexible and scalable enough for SEO consultants or companies.

AuthorityLabs Accuracy

In our internal testing, AuthorityLabs has performed extremely well. It has an error rate of 0.02, this means that on average the SERP results it shows will be off by one fifth of a result. Another way of explaining this is that if you added five keywords to Authority Labs, four would be correct and one would be off by at most one position in the SERPs.

It’s far and away the most accurate web based rank tracker that is currently available.

AuthorityLabs Interface

AuthorityLabs has several different tabs which all show different information, the first tab we are going to look at is probably the most important and if you’re looking for a rank checker, probably the most relevant. This tab shows you a specific URLs rankings in google, yahoo and bing. It also gives you two other pieces of information: search volume (this feature isn’t currently working) and type.

Type is something only AuthorityLabs does and it tells you if there is anything else in the SERP apart from normal results, for example; images, video, shopping results, local results, news results or rich snippets. This can help you determine why you are receiving low levels of traffic (e.g if you’re behind a six pack of local results – even if you are ranking #2 you’ll still be below the fold and thus won’t receive much more than 5% of total traffic whereas you’d be expecting to receive around 20% of total traffic).  Type can also be used when tying to determine what type of content to add to your site or a particular page, if a video result is appearing in the search engine results page then it would be a good idea to create your own video and add it to your page. Below we can see the first ‘interface’ which shows some results with rich text snippets, news results and a video result.

If you click on one of your keywords, you’ll be brought to the second interface. This shows your a graph with the ranking history of your keyword (this can show it for one month, three months, six months or a custom date range), below that is a dated list of your rankings. If your ranking is different than it was the previous day then it will be bolded.

The other two tabss are; links & pages. The links page shows all the incoming links to your site along with their domain authority according to SEOMOZ. This is all powered by LinkScapeMajesticSEO & Yahoo! Site Explorer. The last tab shows you the Top 100 Indexed Pages from Google.

AuthorityLabs would have gotten a five star rating for their interface, but the search volume isn’t currently working so we had to take a star off them.

AuthorityLabs Features

  • White Label Reporting
  • Support For 35 Different Countries
  • Unlimited Users
  • Daily Monitoring
One of the best features AuthorityLabs offers is the ability to white label the rank tracker. Most web based rank trackers allow you to ‘White Label’ the reports by adding your logo to the top of the report, AuthorityLabs goes about five steps further. With their White Label reporting you can:
  • Have your own unique URL that clients can use to log in to view their results
  • Add your own custom logo
  • All system e-mails can be made to look like they are coming from your own specified e-mail address
This makes client work a breeze, you can show them up to date ranking data rather than a report at the end of each month whilst still branding it as your own. This sort of white labeling makes it easier to retain your current customers as they don’t want to lose this functionality by shifting to a new SEO company. It also makes getting new SEO contracts much easier as you have a point of difference against your competition and they can see how your SEO efforts are improving their site in the SERPs.

AuthorityLabs Plans And Pricing

Rather than offering a free plan like their competitor, SEscout they instead offer a 30 day free trial for any one of their four plans. This trial is great because you don’t even need to add a credit card to your account (thus no automatic re billing if you forget to cancel).  AuthorityLabs is slightly more expensive than some of the other web based rank trackers, but when it comes down to it their cheapest plan is still less than 10 cents per keyword per month, which should be more than affordable for anybody who takes SEO seriously.

AuthorityLabs Customer Service/Support

AuthorityLabs are always quick to respond to any customer service or support enquiries, when we ran some ‘test’ support questions they always replied within 24 hours (aside from weekends). They are also extremely helpful and friendly which is why they’ve earned five stars for their Custom care.

Overall

AuthorityLabs is a powerful rank checking tool which has a number of additional features which make it the most powerful and accurate rank checking tool in the market place at the moment. It really shines for those wanting to white label their own serp tracker for clients.

We cannot recommend this tool enough! They offer a thirty day no credit card free trial, so why not sign up today?

Authority Labs is a great one. The graph feature really helps you track the progress rather then the usual up and down from the last update. Great interface. The enterprise version is a bit overpriced for a keyword tracker though.

Great for looking at trends over time in your SEO efforts, rather than simple snapshots at just one time, integration of SEOMoz data is great as well

We used this @ our company for several months on an enterprise version. To be honest, the accurcy of the data was quite poor, we advised them of this several times only to be told that “Its google”, and basically fobbed off. The americain ranks were Ok, accuracy wise. Paid over £500 Per month for a white label service. Doesnt support foreign character sets very well.

….Im off to make on ebetter!!
